This morning on Alexandra Parade between 6.30am and 7.30am I watched 23 cyclists use the Parade, 18 adults and children cross the Parade, 55 walkers/runners use the threatened green space along the parade, 9 frill necked lizards sun themselves in the threatened green space along the Parade, and 8 people who appeared to be tourists taking photos of our beautiful coastal strip. What will happen to these peole and where will they go when 6 lanes detroys our most prized recreational zone? The government that is insisting we walk more is destroying our most popular walking strip
Don't destroy our beautifu coastline with more traffic and 6 lane highways. We have been walking there for years - leave it as it is!
A GREAT END FOR THE LAST DAY OF NOVEMBER, SUN SHINING , PEOPLE ENJOYING THE BEACH AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE EXISTING CAR PARKS.
EVERY CAR PARK ALONG ALEX PARADE WAS TAKEN, IMAGINE IF NO CAR PARKS WERE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC ACCESS TO OUR BEACH WE CALL HOME .
TELL YOUR MATES GET THEM INVOLVED, SIGN THE PETITION AND REMEBER "6 LANES - NO BRAINS "
This is a numbers game folks. Get everyone you know to sign the e-petition. I have the Gov. e-petition (http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/view/EPetitions_QLD/CurrentEPetitions.aspx?LIndex=1) constantly open at my store, I ask EVERY CUSTOMER that comes in to sign. Not one has refused. I collected 17 signatures yesterday!!! Send this link and this website no6lanes.blogspot.com to everyone in your address book. If the government can do this here then watch out Noosa, Peregian, and Coolum. Everyone's at risk. This is your ALEXANDRA HEADLAND. Save it!or Lose it F O R E V E R
Will you people STOP pedalling the lie that this proposal is a six lane highway. Tell it like it is, a bus lane, not a highway. I can remember the days when the road was a single lane crawl, and I was astounded when Tony Spinks wants to go back to that, he wont be happy till Alex Pde is converted into a stationary car park like Hasting St Noosa. Lets face it Alex was "destroyed" when they pulled down the fibros and built multi story holiday units. You cant go back. A bus lane will service the thousands that stay at Mooloolaba - Alex motels in/out to Maroochy. And maybe, just maybe, encourage local people out of their cars. You have to get one thing through your heads, the traffic situation is only going to get worse in the future, not better, with the current infrastructure.
Whats the bet this post doesnt stay up for very long, hey Tony?
Buses have no trouble driving the Alex foreshore, so we do not need to lose precious parking to create a bus lane for them....
Give us some appropriate "beach" buses, and perhaps people will be encouraged to use them.
We do not need to widen the road - nor create more dangerous empty lanes for cars to race upon at night.... They do, and we hear them. We LIVE on this road.
Plus No other surf beach of similar popularity in Australia has a 60km speed limit...we need to slow it down, and most of this traffic will choose another route.
6 Lanes between the people and the Beach is ridiculous when we have a network of roads BEHIND the beach to service Public Transport and through traffic !!.
why cant we just keep the coast the way its always been...natural and far from the gold coast...thats why people come here...turn it into a 6 lane highway and the traffic is going to get busier...the council are really sh%t on the sunshine coast, doesn't surprise me....maroochy shire....pricks.....
Hi Anonymous - I can see that you are as passionate as we are about keeping our coast beautiful and free from excessive and unnecessary traffic, and thanks for your comments.
